John E Masters FRACS
I became a specialist Plastic Surgeon after completing five years of advanced surgical training under the guidance of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. This training, like my 6 years of basic medical training, was completed in New Zealand. I under took two additional years of international Plastic Surgical fellowships, furthering my training in two of the most prestigious Plastic Surgical training Universities in the USA.
I was honoured to be the last international fellow to spend a year with the late Professor John Bostwick and his team at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. This time was spent focusing on all aspects of Plastic Surgery.
During the second year I completed a hand surgery fellowship at Mt Sinai Hospital and New York University, covering all aspects of hand surgery, with an emphasis on tetraplegia and nerve entrapment syndromes, co-authoring several medical papers, some of which were presented at International conferences.
Before returning to New Zealand I worked as a specialist consultant at the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary in England.
I am a member of the New Zealand Foundation for Cosmetic Plastic Surgery, a sub-speciality grouping of Specialist Plastic Surgeons dedicated to improving the standards of Cosmetic Plastic Surgery in New Zealand.
Plastic Surgical Masters
Along with my wife, Leanne, I established Plastic Surgical Masters, our full time private Plastic Surgery practice in 2002. Initially based in Auckland, we moved the practice to Wellington in late 2003. We, and our small staff of dedicated employees, pride ourselves on our level of individualised, patient focused care.
A full description of our procedures is available on our procedures pages.
